Which is better McAfee or Norton AntiVirus software?

by on October 5, 2012

I have Windows 7 Ultimate. When I had Norton AntiVirus Software for 12 months I had no problems with Viruses. When I bought McAfee Total Protection , my PC got infected in 2 weeks time. I paid for Norton $ 50 and for McAfee $ 130. Is it possible that Norton is better than McAfee ?

Both are ok but I use what is called Avast it is free and works great and its what Windows uses on their office computers. you can search it on bing or Google and find it.

Its possible. I’ve never used McAfee so this will be one sided but I do not like Norton. When it works, its great. The problem is it screws up almost as much as the vista pc I was running it on. My Norton is currently so screwed that it doesn’t allow me to open it up. It still runs perfectly but I am unable to change any settings or do ANYTHING which can’t be done by right-clicking the tray icon.

To summarise: Norton is great when it works. Too bad it doesn’t most of the time

To be honest…both are rip offs and very intrusive. I’ve used both and still caught viruses and I am an IT Tech. If its not too late I’d return them and download the fairly new Windows Security Essentials antivirus program directly from Microsoft for FREE, the full version with updates and live protection etc. No strings attached. They know what they are doing and it runs great without you even realizing it is there. I have included the download link.

I’m not sure which is better, but perhaps you should consider going with the one that you’re the most familiar with and the one that you like better out of the two.

However, rather than paying for an antivirus program, perhaps you should try using a free antivirus program, such as Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be downloaded from the link below.

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials for a while now and haven’t really had any problems with it.

In addition to running frequent antivirus scans, I would also suggest that you run antispyware or antimalware scans, just to be sure that your computer is free of any malicious files or programs that may not have been picked up by your antivirus program.

If you need a free antimalware program, perhaps you should try using MalwareBytes, which can be downloaded from the link below.

Just so you know, I would not suggest that you have more than one antivirus program installed on your computer at the same time, as they may end up conflicting with each other. However, it is alright to have both an antivirus program and and antispyware or antimalware program installed at the same time.

Also, perhaps you should try using Mozilla FireFox or Google Chrome, which are both free browsers that are safer than Internet Explorer and can also be customized with a variety of free add-ons and themes.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!
